The Software and Service Development (SSD) Group was launched in 2009 at the Göttingen State and University Library and is currently comprises of nine Software Developers and three Product Owners. Using collaborative and agile methods, the group creates software-based services and solutions that address technical and operational issues arising from research and library projects and from research-related processes.
The SSD works closely with other libraries, research institutions from different disciplines and IT service providers in local, national and international projects. The group runs monthly Software Engineering Workshops for librarians and researchers in order to raise awareness of software in research. It also offers consultancy, especially in the area of project proposal preparation.
The SSD is financed in the main from research project funding, with additional financial support from the Gottingen State and University Library.
The group is led by Zeki Mustafa Dogan. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from Leipzig University and has many years of software development and IT management experience both in private and public sector. Since 2008 he is working for the University of Göttingen.
