We have a vacancy for a senior software engineer on a permanent contract in my team at UKAEA’s Culham site near Oxford. If you are an experienced software engineer who would like to contribute to good data management in fusion energy research and can keep a production system with a large C and Fortran codebase running smoothly, please read on.
The team develops, maintains and supports data systems and tools for the JET experiment. We also promote good software development practices and collaborate with colleagues writing software in physics and engineering groups throughout the organisation.
You would gradually take on responsibility for the system for storing and accessing the raw JET data. You would have the chance to help shape the data management strategy and evolution of the related software to ensure the valuable data remains usable long into the future.
As well as an inspiring mission which attracts smart and committed people, UKAEA offers excellent benefits including membership of the civil service pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement.
The closing date is 26th March and details are available here:
(Look for “Senior Research Software Engineer” in the list).
Feel free to get in touch with Alys Brett (alys dot brett @ ukaea.uk) if you’d like to know more.
