STFC’s Scientific Computing Department (SCD) develops leading edge software, computer and data storage infrastructures to support the work of world class science both within STFC and internationally. About The Role:

We now have several new opportunities for passionate software engineers to join the SCD (http://www.stfc.ac.uk/SCD), on either a full time or part time basis, offering an excellent opportunity for career development and an exceptional benefits package.

The department develops and maintains software to support the computing and data requirements of international scientific experiments. We use a wide range of technologies such as Java, C, Python, SQL, Jenkins, RESTful web services, Linux and Cloud.

In this ‘full stack’ role you will:

  • use agile tools and techniques to play a full part in all aspects of the software development lifecycle
  • make sound technical decisions to guide our development of software systems
  • be involved in DevOps and supporting new and existing systems
  • use tools such as Jenkins to manage the continuous integration and deployment of our solutions we do our best to use the right tool for the job
  • develop your expertise in a wide range of server and client-side technologies and you will research and make recommendations on what tools or technologies we should use when embarking on a project.
