We are looking for a software developer to support scientific research using Earth System modelling and Earth Observation. The appointee will join the Global Change Research Institute in the School of GeoSciences, University of Edinburgh, which provides great opportunities for career development and a highly supportive working environment. Global Change is a vibrant group of climatologists, ecologists, geomorphologists, glaciologists and oceanographers working to improve the scientific understanding of past, present and future changes in the Earth System through measurements, theory and computational modelling. Specific work for this post will involve developing software tools to analyse large datasets and evaluate complex models for research projects investigating carbon cycling in the tropics and snow dynamics in mid to high northern latitudes.

The post is full time for 24 months from 1 October 2017 (or as soon as possible thereafter), with the possibility of extension subject to winning additional research funding.

The School aims to ensure equality of opportunity and holds an Athena SWAN Silver award. We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of gender or ethnic group.
